Music and Movie enthusiasts in India never had it so good. Hot on the heels of Spotify, YouTube has premiered its music and video platform in the country. YouTube Music, YouTube Music Premium, and YouTube Premium have been officially launched in India.

Along with Google Play Music and Google Play Movies services, the new launches will be confident about taking on their home grown and global competitors in India. These have also been customized for India, helping you to experience the trending music & videos covering all local languages.

YouTube Music comes with both Android/iOS mobile apps, and a specifically designed web interface. It offers a vast spectrum of albums, songs, playlists and also YouTube’s catalogue of recommended videos, tracks of unsigned artists, live performances, covers and remixes. Its strong focus is on music discovery, helps artists share their music, making it easier to find rare videos and songs. Its machine learning powered search along with Google’s advanced algorithms serve new recommendations based upon your listening history, location, and activity.

YouTube Music is available for free. But for an advertisement free experience, one has to subscribe for YouTube Music Premium at Rs 99 a month. The paid subscription allows you to play the music and videos in the background while using the device for some other work. Paid members also get offline downloads.

A 3-month introductory offer of YouTube Music Premium is available to the streaming service starters. Subscribers of Google Play Music will get YouTube Music Premium membership without paying anything extra. Besides, they can still access their already purchased music, previous uploads and existing playlists in Google Play Music.

Moving on to YouTube Premium, it is available in India at ₹129 a month. It will be inclusive of an ad-free YouTube Music Premium membership, complete with YouTube Originals, background play, and offline downloads. Users can download up to 100 videos and further enjoy all the perks available with YouTube Premium Music.

A complimentary 3 months trial for YouTube Premium is also being offered by Google. The new Samsung Galaxy S10 owners, who have not subscribed to YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium or Google Play Music, get 4 months of free YouTube Premium access. A YouTube Premium family plan is also on offer, for use of up to 5 family members for Rs 189 a month. Users do not need any separate apps to access YouTube Premium, and the regular app can offer them ad-free experience and other benefits basis their subscription status.
