Realme 3 Pro Review

Realme 3 Pro Review: Good Cameras, Impressive Performance and Great Battery Life

In a short span of time, Realme has made a big impact in budget smartphone market with its aggressive pricing. With its latest offering Realme 3 Pro, the company presents a tough challenge to smartphones like Redmi Note 7 Pro. The phone is available at Flipkart with a starting price of Rs 13,999. The Realme 3 Pro comes with a host of interesting features in a budget segment. But is it the best smartphone from Realme’s camp? Let’s find out.

Realme 3 Pro Design and Display:

The Realme 3 pro’s S-shaped curved back panel with a gradient design looked premium for a phone under Rs 15,000 segment. The smartphone felt nice with its polycarbonate plastic body, but which easily attracted smudges and fingerprints. The dual camera setup, fingerprint sensor, and Realme branding are placed at back panel.

The power button is placed at the right side, while the left side houses the volume rockers and SIM tray with a dedicated microSD card slot. The micro USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker grille and microphone are placed at the bottom.

The Realme 3 Pro features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ water-drop notch display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixel and a 408 PPI pixel density. The color reproduction felt good with vivid colors, and so did its great viewing angles in different lighting conditions. We did not feel any difficulty in reading the text under direct sunlight.

Realme 3 Performance and Specifications:

The Realme 3 Pro works well with the 10nm based octa-core Snapdragon 710 processor, coupled with Adreno 616 GPU. The performance felt very satisfying during our review, and we did not face any lag in app switching and day to day tasks. We used the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant for our review, while other options available are 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.

The Realme 3 pro easily handled the graphics intensive games like Ashphalt 9 and PUB G. Even in high graphics setting, we did not find any lag and frame drops during the game play, but the smartphone temperature increased a little bit, though it never got too hot.

The Realme 3 Pro runs Android 9 Pie based on ColorOS 6 and it has a lots of customizations options. The device came loaded with a lots of bloatware apps like UC Browser, ShareChat, Webnovel, DailyHunt and Opera, many of which can be uninstalled. The smartphone comes with a Widewine L1 certification to play HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime. The fingerprint sensor and face unlock option worked quite fast. The speaker sound is loud enough and we did face any issue during on call.

Realme 3 Camera Performance:

The Realme 3 Pro has dual rear camera setup with 16MP Sony IMX 519 primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The camera app is simple and easy to use with lots of features like you can swipe left and right on the screen to switch between different modes.

The rear camera captured great pictures in outdoor condition with good amount of detail and natural colors. The Chroma Boost feature did enhance the saturation levels on the pictures, but occasionally it oversaturated the images too. The Nightscape feature worked really well in low light condition.

Realme 3 Pro’s 25MP front camera (with f/2.0 aperture) captured sharp and detailed images with good dynamic range. Overall, we have been really impressed by the camera performance. The device can shoot 4K videos at 30fps and ultra slow motion at 960fps which is a great feature in this budget.

Realme 3 Pro Battery and Connectivity:

The Realme 3 Pro is fueled by a 4045mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support. The battery easily lasted more than a day with mixed usage during our review. Connectivity options include dual VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro USB port.

Final verdict:

If you are looking for the budget smartphone with powerful performance, great camera and decent battery life, then Realme 3 pro is one of the better options. Certainly one of the best smartphones in India market at such an affordable price.
