Oppo’s latest smartphone Oppo K1 brings in the optical in-screen fingerprint sensor at the most affordable rate in the market. Another device in the same segment, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S, is also about to be launched in India. We bounce off the specifications & features offered by Oppo K1 with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S. Let’s see how the two measure up.


Oppo K1 owes its remarkable design to the Nano-scale IMT 3D injection moulding process. It’s quite slim with fine-tuned edges for a comfortable grip. The phone is available in two colours – Astral Blue and Piano Black

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S boasts of a next level reflective glass design, with a back panel with colour gradients pattern. It is expected to be available in all its colours – Twilight Gold, Fantasy Blue, and Bright Black.


K1 carries a 6.4-inch display, with a dew-drop notch on top. The full HD+ Super Amoled display has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.

Redmi Note 7S meanwhile has a 6.3-inch screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. It continues with the trending water drop notch display, and has a similar resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.

Platform & Storage

Oppo K1 runs on a tried and tested 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. It groups 4GB RAM with a 64GB internal memory, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. It provides enough satisfaction in form of a solid app and gaming performance.

Redmi Note 7S matches up with a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor ( Compare with Helio P70 ). It is expected to be available in three variants – 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, and 6GB/64GB, expandable via microSD card.


The Oppo K1 (Review) has dual 16MP + 2MP rear cameras to produce professional looking photos. The phone also gives you the perfect selfie with a 25MP front camera, which also has an artificial intelligence beautification system.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S boasts of the industry’s biggest pixel count with a 48-megapixel (f/1.8, 1.6-micron) primary rear camera, coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary camera. The front is furnished with a 13MP camera (Aperture: f/2.0).

Software & Connectivity

Oppo K1 comes with an intelligent and efficient OS, which runs Android 8.1 Oreo. The ColorOS 5.2 Smart Assistant is adequate, provides a good performance, and switches between apps easily.

Redmi Note 7S runs Android (9.0 Pie). It is enhanced with the Xiaomi special MIUI 10 with Artificial intelligence for optimum performance, and prodigious user experience.

Both phones provide connectivity through dual SIM card slots with VoLTE support, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.


Oppo K1 is powered by a 3,600mAh battery, which holds up for a decent duration. It feels good enough to last a day covering a typical busy day usage inclusive of streaming and gaming. It also has a 10W power adapter, which takes about two and half hours to fully charge the smartphone.

Redmi Note 7S facilitates you to do more on a single charge. It is fuelled by a non-removable Li-Po 4,000mAh battery, with a USB Type-C port for charging.

Availability and Price in India

Oppo K1 is priced at Rs 13,990. It is already in the market, launched on 6th February 2019.

Redmi Note 7S comes with a starting price of Rs 9,999 for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant while the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant is priced at Rs. 11,999.
