Oppo K1 Review: Great Design, battery and Performance at Rs 16,990

Oppo recently launched Oppo K1 smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor at a very affordable price. The smartphone comes with a premium design, dual cameras and great specifications at a mid-budget price of Rs 16,990. Currently this device is available at Flipkart with two colors: Astral Blue and Piano Black.

Oppo K1 Design and Display:

Oppo K1 comes with a gradient design and a glossy finish at back which looks premium. The device has a plastic body and pre-applied screen guard, which is a great move by company. The smartphone feels quite sturdy in hands. It is equipped with a speaker grille, Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack at bottom. On the left side, there is a SIM-tray with three slots, which support two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD card at same time. In the box, you get a silicone case, SIM eject tools, Micro-USB cable, headset and a 10W charger.

Oppo K1 features a 6.4-inch full HD+ AMOLED display, with a water-drop notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. While reviewing, we experienced good colors and great viewing angles in various lighting conditions. The smartphone comes with an in-display finger print sensor which fast and accurate.

Oppo K1 Performance and Specifications:

Oppo K1 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 ( Compare with Helio P70 ) processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card. During our review, we have found that the device is well optimized for multi-tasking and app switching. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 on top.

Gaming experience is quite decent on this smartphone. Oppo K1 comes with Oppo’s Hyper Boost game optimization feature, which delivers a boost to game loading times and performance. We tried some heavy games like PUBG and Real Racing 3 at medium level graphics, and did not find any lag.

Oppo K1 Camera:

Oppo K1 has a dual camera setup of 16MP with F/1.7 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Both rear cameras have AI-based sensors, which clicks decent photos in day-light. In low light shots though the performance is average, with lots of noise and focusing issue.

The smartphone features a 25MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and AI beautification system. During our testing period, the front camera produced some decent photos in various lighting conditions. Front camera also supports face unlock feature, which is pretty fast and accurate.

Oppo K1 Battery and Connectivity:

Oppo K1 is fueled by a 3600mAh battery, which can easily last for one day with normal usage, and it does not support VOOC fast charging. But with a 10W power adapter, it takes around 2 Hours and 30 Minutes to fully charge the smartphone. The smartphone supports all the connectivity features like dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. It has all sensors like Proximity, Compass, Gyroscope, Accelerometer and a Light Sensor, which is good at this price.

Final Words:

Oppo K1 is the only smartphone, which offers in-display fingerprint sensor at this price bracket.  There are some smartphones with Snapdragon 660 processor at a lower price like – Realme 2 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Vivo V9 Pro. So you can consider them if you have a tight budget.
