Huawei P30, P30 Pro with Kirin 980, 40MP Camera Announced

The next generation flagship smartphones from Huawei are here. The company has gone official with Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro that come with abundant battery backup and vigorous configuration each.

The two variants of P30 series have a lot going for them, and boast of a ton of features, and carry impressive improvements and upgrades over the existing P20 series. Both feature HiSilicon Kirin 980 processors, FHD+ displays and 40MP SuperSpectrum cameras. Let us take a closer look.

Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are both expected to be available in 4 colours – Aurora, Black, Breathing Crystal, and Pearl White. P30 weighs 165g with dimensions of 149.1mm x 71.36mm x 7.57mm. While Huawei P30 Pro weighs in at 192g with dimension 158mm x 73.4mm x 8.41mm.

The P30 features a 6.1-inch OLED flat display with HDR10. P30 Pro outdoes it with a 6.47-inches curve edged OLED Display with HDR10. Both bring-in optical in-display fingerprint scanners, and have an ultra-small notch to house the selfie camera. Both also have a similar resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

Both P30 and P30 Pro have been strengthened by HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor, driven by two 2.6GHz Cortex-A76 cores, two 1.92GHz Cortex-A76 cores, and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Both the devices use the EMUI 9.1 based upon Android 9 Pie. P30 Pro scores higher with 8GB RAM, as compared to P30 which offers 6GB RAM. On storage, the Pro again has a higher 512GB as against 256GB of P30.

Huawei P30 Pro has a Quad Camera setup. It consists of a 40MP Huawei SuperSpectrum (27mm, f/1.6, OIS) primary, a 20MP Wide-angle camera (16mm, f/2.2), an 8MP 5X optical periscope-zoom (125mm, f/3.4, OIS) and a 3D TOF sensor. P30 has a triple camera setup, packing a 40MP Huawei SuperSpectrum (f/1.8 aperture) primary, a 16MP Ultra-wide angle (f/2.2), and an 8MP 3X optical periscope-zoom (f/2.4, OIS) lens. On the front, both devices offer a 32MP SuperSelfie camera. 

The P30 Pro is powered by a 4,200mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge technology, as well as 15W wireless charging. The Huawei P30 comes with a lighter 3,650mAh power battery with 40W wired SuperCharge technology.

Huawei P30 and P30 Pro went on sale from 26th March 2019. The 128GB variant of P30 Pro will come at €1,000, which is about Rs 77,500 approximately. It will be €1,100 (Rs 85,200 approx.) and €1,250 (Rs 97,000 approx.) for the 256GB and 512GB variants respectively. While, Huawei P30 is to be available at €800, which will convert to Rs 62,000 approximately.
