The teasers of the flagship Asus ZenFone 6 have been going around for a while. Now finally, Asus India has released media invites for the launch of the much-awaited phone in India. Reason of the delay can be attributed to the legal controversy around the use of ‘Zen’, which has forced Asus to drop the name ‘ZenFone’. Instead, the phone is being launched in India as Asus 6Z on June 19.
The specifications and design of the smartphone are not expected to be different from the version launched globally. The Asus 6Z will compete with the likes of OnePlus 7 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10e, Pixel 3 and others. The phone would be available in Black and Gold color variants, and is expected to be available exclusively on online platforms.
Asus 6Z appears as one of the most inventively designed smartphones coming out from the company’s stable. It features a 6.4-inch NanoEdge display screen, with a resolution of 2340×1080, and 600 nits of peak brightness. The device is fortified with Gorilla Glass protection from both sides, with an aluminium frame in between.
The smartphone features a mechanical rotating camera unit. It comprises of a 48-MP primary camera with f/1.79 aperture, paired a 13-MP secondary ultra-wide-angle sensor. The Flip Camera unit is to be used both as a rear camera, and also as a selfie camera. The sensors also come with a Dual LED flash and a Laser AF assist.
The phone is built on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and has 8GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage. It is fuelled by a very strong 5,000mAh battery, supported with an 18W Quick Charge 4.0 technology. It boots on Zen UI 6 based on Android Pie 9.
Asus 6Z price in India can be expected to be the similar to the Zenfone 6 price ranges. It comes to INR 39,000 approximately for the 6GB + 64GB variant, and INR 43,800 for the 6GB + 128GB model. The highest priced model will be the 8GB + 256GB variant at INR 47,000.
